The Holidays at One if by Land

Winter is when the carriage house is at its best. Both fireplaces are lit, the dining room stays low and candlelit, and the garden fills with snow. Over the years we have marked the season with Thanksgiving dinner, Santa's Brunch, Christmas service, a New Year's Eve celebration, and Valentine's Day. Below is a look at what those evenings have been.

Which of these we offer varies year to year. Dates, menus, and reservations are confirmed closer to the season. To be notified, contact us separately.

LATE NOVEMBER

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving here has been a seated prix fixe rather than a buffet. Larger families have taken the Constitution Room or the Mezzanine, and the kitchen cooks for one full house rather than a rotation of tables. A quieter alternative to hosting at home.

Santa's Brunch

Santa's Brunch has been the one occasion in our year built around children. It runs during the day, with a menu for younger guests alongside the full kitchen, in a dining room otherwise reserved for quiet dinners.

DECEMBER 24 AND 25

Christmas

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day have both been served in past years. The seasonal menu changes from one year to the next, but the setting does not: low light, dark wood, and the baby grand playing through dinner.

New Year's Eve

The biggest night of our year. Past celebrations have run across all three rooms with live music, a multi course menu, and a full house seeing the old year out together.

Valentine's Day

More people are said to have announced their engagement here than any other restaurant in Manhattan, and Valentine's Day is when that reputation is most visible. Every table goes to a couple, the room stays quiet enough to hear each other, and the kitchen cooks its most ambitious menu of the year.

Whether you reserve seating in The Constitution Room, The Mezzanine, or our main dining area you will enjoy one of the most romantic settings in New York City where can seat up to 100 guests at a time.

From the brick fireplaces, to the natural wood you’re sure to have a warm evening at One if by Land, Two if by Sea.

PRIVATE EVENTS

Events & Weddings

We host great events and some of the most romantic weddings in NYC.

One if by Land, Two if by Sea can be closed to the public to accommodate larger events of up to 130 guests for a seated dinner or 200 guests for a cocktail party. Our sound system can pipe live or recorded music into all three rooms.

Atmosphere

Dress Code

Admittance to One of By Land Two If By Sea is at the discretion of management who reserves the right to refuse service to any patrons who are improperly dressed.

Dress code: Business attire at the very least! We kindly ask our guests to abide by the dress code of the restaurant.

The Following items are not permitted:

Excessively revealing clothing
Athletic wear, beachwear, tank tops, t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, casual shorts
Hats, flip flops (including rubber & plastic thongs)
Party accessories (including crowns, sashes & other paraphernalia)
