Sommelier Kirk Adair

Kirk Adair, Wine Director, Sommelier and N.A.S.A. member at One If by Land Two If by Sea has overseen the wine program for over 8 years through many changes. As a Former Maitre d’Hôteland Sommelier at Box Tree New York, Kirk combines 15 years of experience in the Wine and Hospitality Industry.

Throughout his career as a Sommelier, Kirk has had the pleasure of curating Corporate and Private Events that have included such personalities as Henry Kissinger, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Princess Grace of Monaco, Devi Sukarno, Imelda Marcos, George Hamilton, David Geffen, Presidents Ford, Carter and  Bill Clinton. For some time, Kirk managed a joint career as a Costume Historian for Diana Vreeland at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, for which he is still a consultant, in private capacity.

Kirk believes that wine and wine knowledge should be fun and available to everyone and with that in mind, as a Sommelier he has co-written, researched and Directed Wine Documentaries, “Tuscany, the Second Renaissance”, with RMP Productions, and has several other wine documentary projects still in the works.

Holding two Masters Degrees from Cambridge University; Trained in England and France; a familiar of the Vintners’ Company of London; an Archeology student that studied, French, Sanskrit and Wine at the L’Université de Pau et des Pays de l ‘Adour UFR, in Bordeaux France; Kirk has picked grapes in Portugal in his teens; has traveled widely in Italy and Germany, familiarizing himself with the wines and cuisines of the regions.

Kirk’s genuine love of wines, their histories and appreciation of fine cuisine, elegant, discreet and gracious hospitality, is a goal that he believes and strives to make accessible to everyone. Kirk teaches Wine and Service classes for CHOW New York, in addition to a full schedule managing the wine program at One if by Land Two if by Sea.
